Hey Reluctant Adult,
To say I'm excited would be understating it. We got so much positive feedback about the playlist from last Sunday! Thank you for dancing with me. I used the playlist to work, clean, and walk. Okay, let me stop before I say too much (coughs).
I’ve been thinking about what my desires were growing up… I mean who I wanted to be as opposed to who I am becoming. The very first occupation I remember wanting to do was a doctor. Now that I think about it again, that sounds wild. I’m sorry, but anything involving blood is definitely not for me. Over the years, I’ve built a broader set of dreams and tried many things because I live to live.
‘how sad it would be if one aspires to be just one thing throughout their existence instead of doing many things that spark a fire within.’
I, however, admire kids who have developed a great awareness of who they desire to be. What often starts as an idea changes the narrative and trajectory of children's and young adult's life. I see this in the Chess in Slums Initiative, and much can be learnt from their ability to remain open-minded, a gift we all grew up with but might have dropped over time.
Well, it’s time for good news, good tidings! Three wise men no do reach this one. Our engineers have given us the green light, and the time machine is ready! So, if you are one of those still open to exploring the parts of them that have been tamed by adulthood; that carefree, playful, ‘I don’t care who is watching me, I will do me’ side, then I’d be expecting you on the 11th of September 2022.
Meet the kids of Chess in Slums who were unafraid to explore a version of themselves they never knew existed. Come battle with your fellow agbaya for the crown of Chief Agbaya by playing the numerous games available; you never know, your opposition may be the love of your life (winks). Kindly shut down slack and dump your worries at the entrance because once you’re in, age diminishes.
We have two unique tickets; one for our solo daters and another for the people who move in a crowd. I can’t wait to see you all there.
Date: 11th of September 2022
